Once again Bob Bauman and I decided to return to the Keys in late September for some great fall diving. The water is usually warm and still this time of year, compared to the winter months. Although it is still the peak of hurricane season, we lucked out as Hurricane Joaquin hovered out in the southern Bahamas and did not affect our weather until the last day.
We experience 6 great days of diving in a row. Although visibility in the water was not great, we had many great encounters with sea turtles, sharks, rays, eels, as well as usual schools of tropical fish. I captured some great videos and images that are posted on this website. In 40+ years of diving, I've never encountered turtles that seemed so relaxed as to allow me to swim up close for minutes at a time.
